The ACTION Plan for Sustainable Development
Updated: Aug 3
Developing a ReGenerative lifestyle economy is key to supporting the UN’s Sustainability Development Goals to transform our world.
Today unhealthy food & drink products still dominate the mass retail distribution channels. A third of the fresh food we produce is thrown away, after requiring 70% of our water resources. Fashion is the second-largest polluter in the world. Non-renewable resources and inefficient energy systems are still being commissioned for new building developments. 60 - 95% of the marine debris waste are plastics coming from household waste.
These factors, along with our ever-growing population and our ever-demanding lifestyles, are contributing to both a global mental health, and a climate crisis.
We can’t afford to continue operating in an outdated, industrialised societal system. To solve these issues, a platform for regenerative innovators and entrepreneurs is required more than ever, to help steer us towards a healthier lifestyle culture, with smarter, scalable systems in place designed to nurture our ecosystems.
I am striving to create a global culture and an infrastructure where our lifestyles can be in harmony with nature. My focus therefore, where I feel I can contribute the most, is on the following UN Sustainability Development Goals:
UN Goal 2: Zero Hunger
End hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition, and promote sustainable agriculture.
UN Goal 3: Good Health and Wellbeing
Promote mental health and wellbeing. Strengthen the prevention of substance abuse and substantially reduce the number of deaths and illnesses from hazardous chemicals and air, water, soil pollution, and contamination.
UN Goal 9: Build resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialisation, and foster innovation
Develop quality, reliable, sustainable, and resilient infrastructure, to support economic development and human wellbeing, with a focus on affordable and equitable access for all.
Increase the access of small-scale industrial, and other enterprises, as well as their integration into value chains and markets. Encourage innovation and partner with sustainable infrastructure and retrofit industries that use resources efficiently, and adopt clean and environmentally sound technologies, and industrial processes.
UN Goal 12: Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns by 2030
Achieve sustainable management and the efficient use of natural resources. Halve per capita global food waste at the retail and consumer levels, and reduce food losses along production and supply chains. Significantly reduce the release of chemicals to air, water and soil in order to minimise their adverse impacts on human health, and the environment. Substantially reduce waste generation through prevention, reduction, recycling and reuse. Support developing countries to strengthen their scientific and technological capacity to move towards more sustainable patterns of consumption and production. Develop and implement strategies and tools that creates jobs and supports eco tourism through the promotion of local culture and local products.
